Electronic taxi switchboards extend joint services

Berlin/Paris 7 November 2014 – The taxi apps taxi.eu and eCab have established a cooperation agreement. As a result of this cooperation, customers of the respective apps can use their smartphone application to quickly and easily book a taxi both in Berlin and in Paris. To do this, taxi.eu uses the technology of Taxi Berlin with around 5,700 connected vehicles, whilst eCab in Paris uses Taxis G7 with around 7,600 vehicles. The mutual service is intended to be integrated into the technology of both apps from spring 2015, the cooperation partners announced today during the European Taxi Fair in Cologne.

Both providers see the switchboard service via smartphone as an opportunity for the taxi industry to expand the already existing innovative service from the taxi market for customers. “In eCab, we have a like-minded partner in Paris which corresponds with our strategy of creating innovate offers from the industry for our passengers. With this cooperation, we are jointly expanding our respective network in the interests of our customers”, says Hermann Waldner, Managing Director and founder of taxi.eu. “Berlin is an attractive market. eCab users will soon be able to use our high-quality taxi service in another metropolis via their smartphones. We are continuously expanding our network”, says Vincent Stammbach, Managing Director of eCab.

taxi.eu is operated by fms Systems GmbH, based in Berlin and Vienna. For taxi.eu, the cooperation with eCab is a continuation of the previous strategy, which aims to offer a uniform, customer-friendly taxi service via smartphone, right across Europe and neighbouring countries.

The application is based on the IT-based fleet management from the provider FMS GmbH, which is used by numerous taxi offices on the European continent. taxi.eu was designed as an app for taxi offices, and the services are integrated into the existing switchboard systems. The smartphone application works together with over 130 taxi offices in more than 100 cities. There are currently 62,000 taxies with around 160,000 taxi drivers in more than ten European countries driving for taxi.eu, for example in the national metropolises of Luxemburg, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Prague, Vienna and Berlin, as well as in the Swiss centres of Basel, Geneva, Lausanne and Zürich, and in Lyon in France. From 2015, the app taxi.eu will also be available in Istanbul and Athens. The app works according to local legislation in all countries. In 400 German cities and municipalities, the app connects directly with the nearest regional taxi mediator.

eCab is a global association of taxi offices, for a modern and simple switchboard service. The service is currently available in Canada and India, as well as in Europe in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, UK, Ireland and Germany. In a total of 20 cities, including Paris, Amsterdam and Brussels, eCab will find a taxi or a VIP service, exactly as required. Customers pay via credit card. The application was only launched in Paris in the last year and is expanding its service continually.
